February is King Cake season, and who doesn't like a scrumptious King Cake?  We are pleased to have as our guest speakers Chef Carlos Sanchez and his wife Linda, the owners of one of our fantastic local businesses, Tournesol Bakery & Cafe in Covington.  Chef Carlos and his wife Linda will share the story of his journey and the opening of Tournesol Bakery & Cafe, its offerings, talk a bit about King Cake history, the making of some of the various types of King Cakes, and share with us a sampling of a few of the delicious King Cakes crafted by him.  So come enjoy the story and taste his delicious King Cake creations.

The luncheon will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM.  It will be held at the Tchefuncta Country Club, 2 Pine Crest Drive, Covington, 70433. Doors open at 10:00 AM.

Prospective members or members may make luncheon reservations by either paying $35 by the Venmo QR code or by sending a check for $35 made out to Northlake Newcomers Club to Georgia DiFranco, 820 Norval Street, Mandeville, LA 70448.  If you use Venmo, please put your first and last name and the words "January Luncheon" in the "For" Box.  Checks must be received by noon on January 3.  VENMO must be paid by noon on February 7.  Please, no admittance without a reservation.  No refunds and no "To Go" boxes.  Can't wait to see you there!

Community Outreach:   

We will be collecting Mardi Gras Beads for ARC (Advocates for the intellectually disabled) and food items for Samaritan Center.  Also, we are collecting for Easter Baskets for moms and children at Safe Harbor to be delivered in April.            

​

Philanthropic Committee:  We will continue with the sale of tickets for our annual fundraising raffle (to benefit Northshore Humane Society) to be held in April 2025. As of now, we have a beautiful handcrafted necklace with earrings donated by Georgia DiFranco and some adorable kitchen towels donated by Jax Frey. Many more donations are on the way!
